fashion’s night out at saks

September 6, 2012 was an exciting evening at Saks celebrating Fashion’s Night Out. For those of you wondering what that is – it’s basically shopping for a cause: our tanked economy. So if you need an altruistic reason to whip out your credit card, here it is. This is the 4th year of FNO and stores across the world stay open, plan events, and celebrate fashion. I think it’s turned into the New Year’s Day of the fashion industry.

My color scheme for Fall 2012:                                      eggplant, slate gray, and silver                                          with white and/or black accents.

Tracy, Anastasia and Katherine were there to help celebrate fashion in Austin. Courtney, Marlene and Caitlan were looking stylish and chic for the evening.

My favorite stops at Saks? Gucci and La Prairie. Handbags and skincare are, without a doubt, two of my favorite things in the world and you can’t get much better than these!    La Prairie’s Skin Caviar Liquid Lift, 1.7 oz is $500. If anyone tries it, email me. Seriously. I want to know what you think. I’ll be checking out the ingredients of Skin Caviar to see exactly what justifies the steep price tag. Maybe it comes with a tin of Beluga?

Sky Van Vliet, aerialist/actress/dancer/model performed some amazing moves above the crowd. Watching her made me feel even more guilty than usual when I hit Lori Schneider’s Cupcake Bar (but not guilty enough to abstain, sadly) or Iron Cactus where Rhyann, event director and Roslynn had a long line to sample their snacks. There were also cocktails by Brent and James of Deep Eddy Vodka and touch ups courtesy of makeup master Tony Cruz. James Longworth was the DJ for the evening.

Leah Schoeb and William Jackson, founder of InFluential Magazine (left). Meredith Davis, creator of Austin Beauty Guide, which Hip Austin Mom is a contributor to, and Michele Utt of MKV productions (center). Courtney and Tony making it a great night (right).

The Blogger’s table, where it was my pleasure to meet Thea Wood, Austin’s Signature Stylist. Check out her site –  it’s a must-click for anyone looking to make a change or update their look. Here’s to a season of shopping and styling in Austin.
