where we are…

In the past few months I’ve been receiving, well…sort of a lot of email asking if I sell ad space on Hip Austin Mom. If you have been following my blog from the start, you will know that I’m not a tech person, despite living in Austin, and that I taught myself to blog using youtube and google because I was tired of feeling like a geezer when people talked about things like tweets, blogs and social media. I didn’t even have a facebook page!

In April of 2011 I embarked on my “experiment,” as I like to call it, and just sort of did it. For the first two months I did get several complaints from my family, and was accused of being addicted to my computer, not cooking dinner (which was funny because I never did that anyway) and staying in my pj’s until 4:00 in the afternoon.

I thought about monitizing my blog, as it’s called in the blogger world, but since I never set out to make money blogging, and from what I have heard, you only make pennies with adsense anyway, I thought – forget it. The real problem was, I had managed to learn about posting, linking, adding photos and videos, but I never thought I would want to learn how to post a banner or become an affliate. Until now.

Hip Austin Mom has also taken on a direction I didn’t plan on – and that is because it’s really what I’m into – the skin and beauty biz. It’s still not a beauty blog, but it is definitely a mom blog that talks about a lot of skin and beauty products.
