My daughter’s friend dropped these off to her last week. I answered the door, and there she stood, all blonde, sweet and smiling. I asked Jaynee why her friend brought these over and she said, “Just because.”
It made me think that Just Because is the best reason ever to do something for someone. It means that the only reason was you. It’s interesting to look at what motivates people. Motive is huge (it can get you arrested on CSI) and when there isn’t one, you are left with the thought that the only reason is you. It made me realize that love is the only thing that should motivate us. Ask yourself about why you are doing some of the things you do. If it’s not coming out of a place of love, then maybe* you should rethink it.
In case you think I’m getting all soft on you, notice that I wrote maybe. This does not apply to x-husbands, mean girls from high school and certain other people who have caused you grief. As difficult as it is, the best thing to do is ignore these people. As my wise yoga teacher said last week in class, “Where you mind goes, your energy follows.” So stop sending them your energy and concentrate on the good people in your life. If you don’t have any, then get your ass out there and find some. You can, and you know it.

I think this is my very favorite Hip Austin Mom blog so far!
