I really hope the radio doesn’t kill this song for me the way it did every Adele song. Most of the time things are better because they are rare, special, and don’t happen every day (or every 10 minutes as is the case with Adele on the radio) which explains why Husband doesn’t come home every night with a bottle of Veuve and a dozen roses saying, “I’ve noticed you’ve been so good with the credit card lately, why don’t you buy yourself several things from Neiman’s. Don’t even look at the price tags. You deserve it.” You know, he’s trying to keep those moments special, so rare and special are they that in fact, I’m still waiting. I have to say, he’s good with the flowers on our anniversary, and we drink plenty of wine, but I’m still waiting for the day where I can shop without hiding my bags in the laundry room as I come into the house.
Back to my latest song obsession, Gotye’s Somebody That I Used To Know. His voice is soothing somehow. Gotye has been compared to Peter Gabriel and Sting, but I think he’s really the love child of the guy from Wang Chung and Sara Gilbert. Consider the physical evidence:
Alright, she can’t be his mom because that would have made her a 5 year old mother (and I’ve only heard of that happening in China) but damn, they all look related.
Gotye
And just for the hell of it…because 1986 was a very good year.
